Is It Haram to Sell Cats?

Praise be to Allah.

The majority of scholars are of the view that it is permissible to sell cats, and some are of the view that it is haram. The latter are of the Zahiri madhhab and this view was also mentioned in a report from Imam Ahmad (may Allah have mercy on him). 

Ibn al-Mundhir also narrated that from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him).

The view that it is permissible to sell them is more likely to be correct, as is explained in the answer to the question "Ruling on keeping and buying cats  ".
