Question

We live in the city of Al-baha. About two years ago we went to Makkah through Al-baha / at-ta’ef, as we knew that the meeqaat of who lives in Al-baha is the same as the meeqaat of who lives in At-ta’ef (As-sayl Al-kabeer ‘qarn Al-manazil’). We passed by it and entered Ihram and performed a complete ‘Umra Alhamdulillah. Now we are going to go to Makkah through al-mikhwa – the coastal way, which passes by the meeqaat of the people who live in Yemen (Ylmlim). Is it permissible for us to enter Ihram from this place in order to perform ‘Umra? Or must we go to meeqaat of qarn al-manazil?.

Answer

Praise be to Allah.

So long as you are going to take the coastal route, then your meeqaat is Yalamlam, the meeqaat of the people of Yemen, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) designated Yalamlam as the meeqaat for the people of Yemen, then after mentioning the meeqaats he said: “And these meeqaats are for the people at those very places, and besides them for those who come thorough those places with the intention of performing Hajj and 'Umrah” Narrated by al-Bukhaari (1524) and Muslim (1181).

This is your original meeqaat; as for the meeqaat of al-Sayl al-Kabeer, you should enter ihraam from it if you come to Makkah via al-Taa’if.

And Allaah knows best.
