We put this question to Shaykh Muhammad ibn Saalih al-‘Uthaymeen, may Allaah preserve him, who replied as follows:
The mother has to take good care of her daughter.
Question: but she was not paying attention.
Answer: she does not have to do anything (diyah or kafaarah).
And Allaah knows best.
