It is not permissible to perfume the ihram garments

Some people, when they want to enter ihram, apply perfume to their bodies and heads, and they apply perfume to the ihram garments, then they put them on and enter ihram. What is the ruling on that?.

Praise be to Allaah.

With regard to applying perfume to the head and body, this is Sunnah and was narrated from the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). This has been discussed in the answer to question number 13819

With regard to applying perfume to the ihram garments, this is not permissible because the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) forbade the muhrim to wear any garment that had been touched by perfume. Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allah have mercy on him) was asked about applying perfume to the ihram garments, and he said:

That is not permissible, because the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Do not wear any garment that has been perfumed with saffron or wars.” End quote.

Majmoo’ al-Fataawa by Ibn ‘Uthaymeen, 22/9.
