Praise be to Allah.
Shaykh Muhammad ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allah have mercy on him) said:
It is not permissible for a woman who is menstruating or bleeding following childbirth to pray whether in Makkah or in her own land, or in any other place, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said concerning women: “Is it not the case that when she is menstruating she does not pray or fast?”
The Muslims are unanimously agreed that it is not permissible for a menstruating woman to fast and it is not permissible for her to pray. This woman who did this has to repent to Allah and seek His forgiveness for what she did. Her tawaf at the time of her period is not valid, but her saa’i is valid, because the most correct scholarly view is that it is permissible to do saa’i before tawaf during Hajj. Based on this, she has to repeat the tawaf, because tawaf al-ifaadah is one of the pillars or essential parts of Hajj, and the second stage of exiting ihraam cannot be completed without it. Based on this, this woman should not have intercourse with her husband if she is married, until she has done tawaf; if she is not married then she should not enter into a marriage contract until she has done tawaf. And Allah knows best.
