Prohibition on describing the charms of another woman to one’s husband

06-11-2004

Question 50526

Is there any hadeeth narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) which forbids a wife to tell her husband of the charms of another woman?.

Answer

Praise be to Allah.

Yes, that was narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).

It was narrated that ‘Abd-Allaah ibn Mas’ood (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “No woman should look at or touch the body of another woman to describe her to her husband.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5240.

Al-Haafiz Ibn Hajar said:

Al-Qaabisi said: The reason for this prohibition is the fear that the husband may like the description and that may lead him to divorce the woman who gave the description or be tempted by the woman who was described to him.

Fath al-Baari, 9/338; ‘Awn al-Ma’bood, 6/132; Fayd al-Qadeer, 9723.

And Allaah knows best.
