Praise be to Allah.
Shyakh Ibn Baz (may Allah have mercy on him) said:
“There is nothing wrong with gathering to recite and study the Quran and to memorise it and to learn about Islam, because the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “No people gather in one of the houses of Allah , reciting the Book of Allah and studying it among themselves, but tranquillity descends upon them, mercy overshadows them, the angels gather around them, and Allah mentions them to those who are with Him.” (Narrated by Imam Muslim in his Sahih)
And it is proven that the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) used to review the Quran with Jibril (peace be upon him) and study it with him every night in Ramadan.
Prophet Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) often used to sit with his Companions, reciting the Quran to them, and reminding them of Allah, and sometimes he would tell one of his Companions to recite some Quran to him.
All of what we have mentioned above clearly indicates that it is prescribed in Islam to gather to listen to the Quran , study it, revise it, and discuss issues of knowledge.
