`Eid prayer is not obligatory for women, but it is Sunnah. Women should offer `Eid prayer in the prayer-place with the Muslims, because the Prophet enjoined women to do that.

The Sunnah acts and etiquettes of ‘Eid include:
1. Making ghusl before ‘Eid prayer.
2. Eating before going out to pray on ‘Eid al-Fitr and after the prayer on ‘Eid al-Adha.
3. Takbir on the day of ‘Eid
4. Offering congratulations
5. Adorning oneself on the occasion of ‘Eid.
6. Going to the prayer by one route and returning by another.

How to pray ‘Eid prayer:
1- In the first rak’ah, the imam should say Takbirat al-ihram after which he should say six or seven more takbirs. Then he should recite al-Fatihah, and recite Surat Qaf.
2- In the second rak’ah, he should stand up saying takbir, and he should say takbir five times, and recite Surat al-Fatihah then Surat al-Qamar.

The time for offering the sacrifice begins after the ‘Eid prayer on ‘Eid al-Adha and ends when the sun sets on the thirteenth of Dhul-Hijjah.

The Sunnah for one who wants to slaughter the udhiyah is to say: Bismillah, wa Allahu akbar, Allahumma hadha minka wa laka, hadha ‘anni (or if it is being offered on behalf of someone else, hadha ‘an [fulan]), Allahumma taqabbal min [fulan] wa ali [fulan].

Sunnah acts during `Eid include: 1- reciting Takbir during the night of `Eid, 2- eating an odd number of dates before leaving for the `Eid prayer, 3- wearing your best clothes, 4- doing Ghusl for the `Eid prayer, 5- offering the `Eid prayer, 6- paying Zakat Al-Fitr, 7- greeting and embracing one another, 8- going out to the `Eid prayer by one route and return by another…

The issue of ‘Eid takbir is broad in scope because the command is to say takbir in general, and the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) did not single out any particular format of takbirat.
