Question 109299

I went to do hajj tamattu’, but after I did ‘Umrah, I felt pain and swelling in my knees and I could not move or walk. I went to the doctor and he advised me not to continue with Hajj. After that I came home and did not do Hajj. Do I have to offer a sacrifice?.

Answer

Praise be to Allah.

If the situation is as you describe and you exited ihraam following ‘Umrah and did not do Hajj, and you went back to your homeland before entering ihraam for Hajj, then you do not have to do anything, because the ‘Umrah ended when you did it and exited ihraam, and you had not yet entered ihraam for Hajj.

And Allaah is the Source of strength. May Allaah send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and companions. End quote.
