1.. There is nothing like unto Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, and nothing resembles Him. There is nothing like unto Him and the believer believes in the attributes of Allah, may He be glorified, but they cannot be likened to the attributes of created beings. 2.. There is a difference between manifesting and descending. Manifesting means appearing; what is meant is appearing to people’s eyes. With regard to descending, we believe that Allah, may He be exalted, descends every night to the lowest heaven, during the last third of the night. Allah descends every night to the lowest heaven when one-third of the night remains. The descent of Allah to the lowest heaven is in a real sense, in a manner that befits His Majesty and Might. Allah descends however He wills, whenever He wills.

The Sunnah tells us that the reward for memorising the names of Allah is admission to Paradise. The Prophet said: “Allah has ninety-nine names. Whoever memorises them will enter Paradise.”

Perhaps the view that is most likely to be correct is the view that the greatest name is “Allah,” because this is the one name which encompasses all the other names and attributes of Allah and it is a name that was never given to anyone other than Allah.
