The last ten nights of Ramadan begin from the night before the twenty first day, whether the month is thirty days or is twenty-nine days. The odd-numbered nights of the last ten of Ramadan are the nights before the twenty-first, twenty-third, twenty-fifth, twenty-seventh and twenty-ninth (day).

The majority of scholars agree that one should enter his place of I`tikaf before the sun sets on the night of the twenty-first and come out when the sun sets on the last day of Ramadan.

Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) urged us to spend the night of Laylat al-Qadr in prayer out of faith and in the hope of reward. On Laylat al-Qadr, you can read the Quran, observe i’tikaf, pray qiyam al-layl, and give charity.

The sign of Laylat al-Qadr is that the sun rises on the following morning with no visible rays.
Laylat al-Qadr may be seen with the eye for the one whom Allah helps to see it. That is by seeing its signs.

The odd-numbered nights during the last ten nights of Ramadan are more likely than others, and the night of the 27th is the most likely to be Laylat al-Qadr.

It is not possible for anyone to be certain that a particular night is Laylat al-Qadr, especially since we know that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wanted to tell his ummah when it was, then he told them that Allah had taken away that knowledge.

A Menstruating woman can do the following on Laylat al-Qadr:
1. Recite the Quran
2. Make dhikr
3. Make istighfar
4. Make du’a

Laylat al-Qadr is the same night, even though it starts at different times in different countries. So in the Arab lands, Laylat al-Qadr begins when the sun sets in those countries, and in African countries it also begins when the sun sets there, and so on.

I’tikaf should be observed in a mosque in which congregational prayers are held. During i’tikaf, you are not allowed to visit any sick person, or accept any invitation, or attend to your family’s needs except those which cannot be avoided.
