The more correct view is that the basic principle with regard to eating the cheese of the Magians and others is that it is halaal, so long as it does not become prohibited for some other reason, such as the addition of haraam ingredients to it, such as lard (pork fat) and so on.

The Muslim may choose for himself whatever he wishes of food and other things that Allah has permitted to His slaves, and he should let people choose for themselves whatever they wish also, so long as that is within the limits of what is permissible according to Islamic teachings. He has no right to forbid or prevent people from eating anything, except on the basis of clear shar‘i evidence.

It is not permissible to eat the larvae of bees, because that is akin to eating bees and eating worms and other insects, concerning which the basic principle is that it is not permitted.
